What a great video! Thank you for giving great information about the new parking reservation system. Just popping by to let you know that the Spring Hopper pass is $72+tax for 2023.

You were in my absolute favorite area of Florida. In the mid 1970’s my family and I would go from Astor (where we had a houseboat slip) to Silver Glen. We would hook up to the dock (no longer there), with water and electricity.

It is still a truly amazing spring. I will tell you in 1970’s, the spring head literally was like a giant boil, as in you could see the water break the surface from the powerful force pushing up the water. Visible from any angle and a fair distance away.

If you could have seen it back then you would surely been even more impressed. Swimming underwater was like swimming in sir, the fish looked like they too were just swimming along in air, with only the slightest hint of water. The eel grass ran throughout the run, swaying nearly 90 degrees from power of the spring towards Lake George. The black algae was not there, instead ell grass covered those areas. As beautiful as it still is, it has changed quite a bit. A real shame that you couldn’t have seen it back then.

As far as your air show, which I’m was stunning, especially when you’re on such a tiny “boat”. There used to be an area of Lake George that was restricted due to the military using as a bombing run area. I don’t know if that’s what you seeing for sure.

Thank you for sharing, brings back many great memories.

Since today’s generation has nothing to compare Silver Glen with from the past. I’m sure it looks as amazing to you as it did to me nearly 50 years ago!
Makes my wonder what it was like 100 years ago.

Enjoy

My favorite place on earth....been visiting since the 60's. It has changed alot since then. It was privately owned and most people did not even know it was there. Behind the area where you were sitting, on the hill, there were cabins. We stayed there one week around 1967. One of my favorite family vacations. Thanks for sharing

We used to camp there in the 70's and 80's. Always had a great time there.

Bravo ! Bravo ! And Thank you for another great adventure from your eyes to my home computer ! Silver Glen has to be in my Top Five Favorite Springs if not my favorite. It is closer to my home than many and it is stunning.. My dear neighbor and friend Dorothy (God Rest her soul) told me wondrous tales of Silver Glen from the 1940s when she and her husband wired electricity into the cabins that use to occupy the land in the park..It is fun to imagine what it was like in that era. Still awesome today ! You guys are the best and are much appreciated for the videos and education you provide !!!

It's just another little tip. They are thinking about shutting down the runs to boat traffic. Because people are throwing their trash overboard and into the run.And the spring. Please do not throw your trash in the Spring.Pick your trash up, put it in a container or take it home with you. Thank you

I used to keep a sailboat across lake George at Pine Island marina. Just about every Friday i would sail the 7 or 8 miles and spend Friday night on the boat. Good times.

The jets were most likely out of Jacksonville NAS doing practice bombing runs on the Pinecastle Impact Range that is about 10 miles SSW of Silver Glen. My family and I used to camp at Farles Prairie (back when you still could camp there) and you would often be woken up near first light by similar practice runs.

Is there a parking fee or entrance fee during the weekday? We're planning on going early in the morning. What's the crowd like then?
