This is my favorite show. It is not just a story about two women coming-of-age. It’s the story of a nation in all its beauty and contradictions, honoring the complexity of human nature in the context of a certain time and place. I think this show evokes strong emotions in people because it gives dignity to misunderstood characters without placing judgment. Certainly for me at least it has helped me look at life in a different, more accepting sort of way.

How I miss that HBO and the rest of the production companies make this kind of TV series, or even movies. With that love and care that can be seen in the productions that make real history and that we all remember over the years. I guess I'm getting old, but who understands the new times?

I started watching this by accident back when I still had cable. Just like most weekends hbo, starz, cinemax, etc would play reruns of their shows all weekend long. I just decided to start watching My Brilliant Friend once the the first episode of season1 came back around on this particular weekend. I am soo happy I did, I fell in love with this show and all of its characters and so did my daughter, we can not wait to watch this season even though its the last😢
