Okay so after you do this there should be three rods. Two of the rods connect together to make one long rod, the other is an L shaped rod. Connect the two rods to make that large rod. Then take the longest black rod and put the bigger square end inside the car. Once it makes the clicking noise attach the L shaped rod at the end hold on to it and then rotate the bar clockwise. Its not as easy as just lowering the spare down. You have to deal with the stupid secondary latch.
