'Botched Rwanda scheme is unworkable and very expensive' - Labour

Wes Streeting, the Shadow Health Secretary, told Sky News the situation regarding the Manston migrant centre demands a change in "policy" and "practice".

He said: "The £120m the government is spending on the botched Rwanda scheme, which is unworkable and very expensive, could be better used."

When asked about Matt Hancock's decision to appear on I'm A Celebrity.... Get Me Out Of Here! -amid the ongoing COVID inquiry - Mr Streeting said "We are are going to make sure, I can say on a cross-party basis, that Matt Hancock gets his fill of every creepy crawly available to him."

He added: "We are not celebrities, we are politicians."

Labour needs to commission public auditors to calculate how much the incompetence of this government has cost the UK taxpayer. From botched PPE contracts handed out to cronies, the billions wasted on Track and Trace, the cost of the Rwanda debacle and the cost of bailing out Pension Funds and the derivatives market, due to the ineptitude of Truss and Kwarteng. Hundreds of billions wasted by Government stupidity. How much has this cost every UK family? Someone needs to pay.

In regard to Rwanda I would have to agree with Labour. If it were up to me these people would be housed in POW style camps on cold, wet, remote Scottish islands. It would be vastly cheaper, and a damn good deterrent that would have a lot of them begging to go home.

Why wasn't it unworkable for the EU in 2021 or did they lie about deporting illegal migrants to Rwanda ? Over 6000 illegal migrants deported from the EU while in the UK we face a crisis and have to pay for 10's of thousands of these mostly men ?
