As a fellow owner of the 5600X, i can confirm that these benchmarks are mot accurate. It usually performs a worse than depicted here. And i have no clue how it out performed others in total war. But nice graphs though

Im using a ryzen 5 3600 paired with an RX 6700XT, and i only play WoW. And wow is a cpu heavy game and im thinking of getting a new cpu, i have 2 in mind, Ryzen 5 5600X or Ryzen 9 5900X, maybe the Ryzen 7 5800X3D( but this is obviously the best for wow)and also costs more than the 2 i previously mentioned. Can u give me some opinion?

Can you try these cpus with a 3060, 4060 or anything that is less powerful than a 3090? As the GPU usage of 4 difference cpus are quite different and this clearly represent in the FPS

Now this is what i've been waiting for :)
Now with your more precise fps calculations as opposed to my manual tracking it brings a bit different results. 5600x is solid but there is definitely a rather consistent advantage of 5800x. Now 5900x results are quite strange but not completely unexpected. My theory why 5900x has measurable difference in avg fps in few games compered to 5950x is because of dual ccd design and 6 vs 8 core design in particular (nothing to do with clockspeed as the difference between them is almost non existent).
My theory that with 5900x config, game exposes more game code to second ccd and its extra 32mb cache to 5900x (you can notice often consistent utilization distribution among both CCD's) but it also has higher latency of each CCD communication, thus increasing avg fps but reducing of 1% and 0.1% fps. 5900x acts like 5800x3d's retarded brother 😅 So 5950x is more resilient to stutters and frame consistency with its full 8c CCD if the game is finicky about it.

This is going to be super interesting to revisit same testing methodology ~4 years later with 2026-2027 games.

Every test is all over the place. Here, the 12 core CPU was pretty baller whereas the 7000 series 12 core CPU sucks in tests. So confusing. Also, these tests mean nothing in the grand scheme of things. Ok, all of these CPUs can run current games is what these tests 100% show. A lot can happen in 5-10-100 years from now.

at first one might think the 5800x is the winner here.
but having a look at the summary one can see that the 5800x leads AVGs and 1% lows only in older titles.
in newer titles like Cyberpunk, bfv, watch dogs legions and AC Odyssey the 5900x and 5950x have the lead
