Arizona Coyotes NHL RETURN already underway?

The newly elected Chair of the Maricopa County Board of Supervisors is working to bring professional hockey back to Arizona.

Chairman Thomas Galvin, who represents District 2, announced that he's forming an "advisory panel of local leaders who will explore ways of bringing NHL hockey back to the Valley."

"Losing the NHL Coyotes was a low point. And I cringe when local politicians took glee in the demise of our hockey team. I think of Wayne Gretsky's quote, ‘You miss 100% of the shots you don’t take.' So I'm forming an advisory committee of visionary leaders dedicated to bringing NHL hockey back to the Valley," Galvin said in a speech on Jan. 6.

He said he's had several meetings with NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman.

"He looks forward to working with us to identify an owner and the best location for a world-class building," Galvin said about his conversations with Bettman.

The Coyotes and Rays are perfect examples of the importance of having a stadium in the right location.

If the Yotes do come back, give them a better owner and a better arena. Fans in AZ deserved better.

If Arizona comes back the rivalry with Utah would be insane

Arizona will support the NHL and got screwed out of the Coyotes ..A good owner like the VGK Foley they would be a huge success especially if the tax payers aren’t on the hook for building an arena .

If the NHL does decide to do other expansion teams (which they are actually) in my opinion they should bring back the Arizona Coyotes and Atlanta Thrashers. Those are 2 teams with great fan bases right there and they already existed so there wouldn’t be a need to introduce a new team to a new city that may or may not want a hockey team there

Guys I grew up in an original 6 NHL city. It'll be great to see the Yotes come back

The Coyotes had great crowds the first few seasons after moving to Winnipeg. What started the decline was failure to have a new arena built or at least a deal for one in place. Playing in then-America West Arena was not sustainable due to the 4, 000 obstructed-view seats (the arena was designed for basketball first and foremost). The Glendale arena that was ultimately built was a magnificent facility…except, it should have been on the east side of Phoenix in Scottsdale or Tempe rather than on the westernmost side of town.

I would like to see Arizona have an actual opportunity with competent leadership and ownership. The early days of the Coyotes were looking promising.

Anyone who says that hockey doesn't belong in the desert has never been to Las Vegas.

Dallas Stars fan, here - I hope you get the Coyotes back. I liked them, but you loved them, Arizona. I hope you get a chance to resume that love.

I hope the Arizona Coyotes can come back to Arizona and this coming from an Arizona Diamondbacks and Arizona Cardinals fan. it would be good to see the Coyotes back for fellow Arizona hockey fans.

Better owner. Better arena in a better location. Better management. Do that and we'll be drinking from Lord Stanley in the 110F heat.

I’m hoping that if the nhl expands in say the next 5-10 years, we’ll probably get teams in Atlanta, Houston, and Quebec, but hopefully we get the Arizona coyotes back. Build an actual stadium for them in a good location

Brodie, we miss you doing the Sharks commentary during intermissions and after the game. Looking forward to what you are going to create now that you are back with the team. You did a really good job of reinventing yourself being a content creator. I love your commentary and insight. Keep it up. God Bless

Step 1) Find a potential owner with several billion dollars.

Step 2) Find a billion+ dollars in public/private financing for a new venue.

This goes for any location wanting a new pro sports franchise. If you dont have the money youre wasting you time thinking youre getting a team.

If Shane Doan ends up being part of this group that brings hockey back to AZ, he needs to get a statue. A 50ft tall one. At the summit of Camelback. That man gave his heart and soul to the Coyotes when owner after owner couldn’t care less. Captain Coyote forever

My first NHL game was the Coyotes. Always wanted to see them again.
