*I once used coconut in my hair once and I lost so much hair that my mom cried. Phewww. I don’t put coconut ANYTHING on my hair anymore. I learned good and well the first time!*

*Almond oil* _is an excellent product if you're looking for one that can strengthen and moisturize your tresses._ Almonds are _packed with vitamins E, proteins, and antioxidants which make them a great option to combat dryness or damage in the hair as well as promote growth._ With almond oil's magnesium content it also _helps reduce breakage of the strands!_

i also have thick low porosity hair, but coconut oil doesn't work for me, it sits on my hair and feels very greasy, so i'm beginning to use olive oil; i started using olive oil 2 weeks ago and its made a difference😌

Okey,
So I just started my hair journey 1 month ago with my low porosity hair after so many research and believe me I’m so impressed... let me drop my routine :)
1. I pree-poo my hair with warm water and flaxseed oil
2. wash my hair with Hawain silk shampoo and conditioner (my hair genuinely accepts it🙂)
3. I deep condition my hair with Mega hair growth deep condition and I add honey and almond oil ( great moisture)
4.still on the deep condition in my hair, I sit under a dryer for my cuticles to open so the moisture can get into my hair(very important: deep condition with heat)
5.I wash the deep condition out and let my hair damp before using my moisturizers which are my tcb naturals leave-in conditioner and olive oil
6. which is the last step, and most important...PROTECTIVE STYLING ... this really helped my hair retain moisture and length...
NB: My washday is every two weeks.

My God i feel so validated with stopping to insist on the heavy castor oil etc because they are meant to be holy grail. But now that you say it, my 4c low po hair thrived on indirect heat and lighter moisture products. Thank you for this.

I've been natural for a few years & experienced extremely dry tangled hair. I learned that coconut oil when it's melted it's thin but if you notice coconut oil it is solid at room temperature. It leaves a coating on low porosity hair and that blocks out moisture and it's hard to get out of your hair you have to shampoo it out to get to remove it from your strands.
I also used to use aloe vera gel religiously and I thought I was doing my hair good but I was having a hard time with rough cuticles and when I stopped & poof 🤯the roughness went away so I don't use aloe vera anymore and I don't use protein on my hair it's made a big difference in the softness and manageability of my hair.

Jamaican Black Castor Oil is very good for sealing moisture. You don't want sealant oils to penetrate the hair anyways. Olive Oil and Coconut Oil are penetrating/moisturizing oils.

Thank you so much! I related to everything you said, I used heavy oils/bandanas at night/never prepooing or deep conditioning. I have been searching youtube for hours looking for someone to explain why my scalp is dry and my hair oily. You are a true blessing! Thank you SOOO much!

Great video. I would like to add some advice from my experience. I did some research because after finding out my hair was low porosity that Coconut oil is not good for low porosity hair because it has protein and protein treatments are not good also. I used to do protein treatments and would wonder why my hair was so dry so after research I found this.

Great vide! It's hard to sort out what works personally when there is so much conflicting advice out here. Your hair is similar to mine so I trust your opinions.

For my 4C low porosity hair:
NO coconut oil
NO castor oil
YES pre poo
YES deep condition each time I wash my hair
YES use a steamer each time I wash my hair
NO protective styles that use synthetic hair (hair is toxic and drying)
YES only use combs sparingly
YES to Ayurvedic herbs

I just started my natural hair journey. But i feel my hair doesn't like olive oil. It doesn't soften my hair or anything. It just sits there and gets all over my bonnet.. I think i will try coconut oil next
BTW. Thanks for this video

Loved the video but disagree about sulfate free shampoos! As a low porosity girl we are very prone to product build up so it is imperative that we wash and clarify our hair properly I.e use sulfate shampoos once every week!
