I love the old Thief games, I love the reboot and new Garrett, I am sick and tired of the mindless hating. They did a great job with the fluidity of the movements and the design and atmosphere of the overworld and the new voice actor keeps up the spirit of old Garrett just perfectly.

What Cantin says about making Garrett more mainstream does not really appeal to me, however, and luckily while I played the game I did not even feel like playing an AC ripoff or Garrett being designed as some gothic badass. He felt very authentically "Garrett-ish" to me, being well familiar with him from the old games. What Gallgher says makes much more sense to me.

They are aiming to make Garrett emo by the sounds of it

Exactly, what I love about Garrett is that he so "human" when it comes to video games protoganists. He's selfish, he's amoral, he steal not to give to the poor but to give to himself. Garrett dosen't care about the politics or events in the City, he's just a guy trying to make a living through the only way he knows how.

Also, nice little reference to Spec Ops there, I think that game game me PTSD.

This was one of my favorite games I’ve played, and I’d say it was one of the best

I'd like to see a large free roaming city - kinda the size of a GTA city (but medieval of course) - which you could explore and find jobs and side quests in - possibly with a day night cycle - moving around in daylight would be risky if the city watch were after you (which they would be more likely to be as said game progresses.)

But i'd be surprised if this game has those kind of features - I'm just hoping it manages not to suck, and retains at least some of the atmosphere of the original.

Poor developers, can't think of any new ideas so they steal them...

In every video I see this "time has moved on, we are not in the 90s anymore"; well if the past was successful why go for modernizing the hell out of it, risking the success of the game

Note that they describe him as an Anti-Hero. He's not someone running around trying to make the world a better place rather he's (as many of you have pointed out) forced into situations which result with him saving the day, but he did it either out of self interest or because they stepped on his toes... most likely both. He's pale because he never or rarely sees daylight due to his work. I agree that the eyeliner or whatever that is can go.

I think what they mean is that while Garret is supposed to be stealthy, he is experienced and a veteran; won't just die and not really be able to fight like in some of the old games. But, that said, Garret is a thief, so combat will probably be avoided by most players throughout the game.

Eidos Montreal, you did a fantastic job on Deus Ex: Human Revolution and I have high hopes for Thief as the Thief series is my all-time favorite game series, but the "DNA of Garrett" is Stephen Russell.

that said, there's a petition online to get him back voicing garrett, ive already signed and so have 200 people it only takes a few seconds guys, i mean imo the guy deserves the job he brought garrett to life. If you wanna sign it, type in google "thief stephen russell petition" and sign it, only takes a few seconds and it is worth it. With the hitman series david bateson who voiced hitman in previous games was "not needed anymore" but with a fan petition they brought him back

The negative points most people seem to be making are spot on, Garrett isn't an anti-hero he's an apathetic non-hero. He's in it for the cash not to give back stories to items he's stolen like some hipster in a thrift store!

Totally agreed. They were doing this with AC too. No way a man in a white robe covered head to toe in knives wouldn't turn some heads.

Why does Garret have to be a hero?

"The truth, Walker, is that you're here because you wanted to feel like something you're not. A hero."
(If you don't know what I just quoted, Google it, and play it. You will thank me.)

WHY DO THEY KEEP SAYING VICTORIAN! the game isn't supposed to be a victorian era setting, it is supposed to be a cross between midieval style and early industrial technology. the very latest era that the city should mimic is Elizabethan London like in thief 2. please thumbs up soo eidos can see this, this is why the game looks soo much like dishonored and not like thief!

The way you said this.. I fucking love you in a half homo way :P
"I want to turn the lights off with my water arrows, and when the light it back I want people to realize they've lost everything of value." I love it so much, I feel like someone has the same views on being a badass with skill.

I can't say I'm happy with the new Garrett. His old character seemed to work just fine in my opinion, and I feel like them even thinking about him being a hero is a bit insulting to him. He's not a hero, he doesn't want to be the savior of the world, he just wants to be left alone while he makes peoples pockets lighter.

I think I'll probably just go for the PC version seeing how I can run something like this thankfully. True, I don't think anyone wants to give up their consoles yet for a new breed.
