That's why we're all millionnaires in Algeria

It's 10000 DA in formal, for people in centime you have to add two zeros that's why they say 1 million ( 1Da= 100 centimes)

It's because Algerian as Moroccan tell every cent. Example: 1 euro is 100 cents, 10€ will be 1000, 100€ will be 10.000, 1000€ will be 100.000 en 10.000€ will be cents. I hope you get the point. In the markets-souq they count every cent. Perhaps it has some religious background because of been just when using a weight balance

If you wonder why, the amount on the bill represents the value in Dinnar while the way you count is in Centim.

So, a 1000 bill is a 1000 Dinnar while the way you read it is 1000.00 Centim.

Oh man, the way he said Dinar got me laughing, he looked like a funny character from a movie when saying DINAR 😂

Not strange. We had it in former Yugoslavia 35 years ago. Inflation. They changed the bills (well the numbers 100x less), but people continued calling it what they were used to.

In the sixtees we count with centimes, cents
And now 1 dinar is 100 cents, or centimes
So 10 000 dinars are 1000 000 centimes it is like you want to count in cents or in dinars brother😊

Not dinar, Centime. A centime is like a Cent in the US. Which is a 100th of a currency unit, simple as that.

😂 one million centime or one million cence😂❤ not one million dinar😂

That’s what baffles me every time I go back to my fatherland. They do not include the decimal point. For e.g., 10.00 Dinars actually equals 1000 Dinars.

People who claim it's because prices are in cents still does not make sense to me since i) prices in cents do not exist (the lowest price is 10 da, there is nothing you can buy for 5, 1 da or less) and ii) prices are often displayed in dinars, not cents. So why is the pronunciation different from the listed price?

It's true and that's why for a long time in my life I had a problem in understanding our way of counting and the price tags 🥴🥴

10.000 DA = 1 million centime
Centime is more used than dinar here
