There's a big change in the menu itself. Solus has replaced it's linear menu with a more organised menu which is inspired by Mate's brisk menu. Huge plus points for solus.
Moving on, the panel feels so much more polished in this edition. Also you can covert the panels to dock. So you need not install a new dock software.
Firefox 55 has been included as the default browser in Solus 3. For those of you all who don't know, Firefox 55 comes with Multi preocess support AKA Electrolysis which has a completely revamped engine and has a whole new way of isolation all the tabs and processes. It provides a much better browsing experience.

And also, we have a completely new Linux kernel here. This new major version of Solus is now based on the latest stable branch of the Linux kernel, 4.12.7. This switch enables various hardware improvements for the latest AMD, Intel, and NVIDIA hardware.
Solus also sees the multemedia codecs ffmgeg upgrade to version 3.3 series.
This release features out-of-the-box support for snaps, universal software packages for Linux. Support for snaps relieves pressure from software vendors to target a specific platform by sharing a unified target across all Linux distributions. For our users, they gain access to a wide variety of software that may not meet our package inclusion criteria, such as server software, as well as enabling an improved distribution method for Third Party software.
And let's check out the new artwork. Alright we do have a great selection of wallpapers here, both quantity wisw and quality wise. Lookin good.
