I'm excited. Sandblasting is complete. Though it took me a full week, the actual work time was about two hours (including wire brushing some of the elements first).

I used aluminum oxide first. This gave a great finish, but wasn't aggressive in taking off stubborn powder coat. The coal ash took care of it quickly and cut the time by a factor of 4. The additional benefit of coal ash was that it generated very little dust, unlike aluminum oxide.

I lost track of the tripod view a few times, but hopefully it's not too bad.

2:44 I laughed so hard! I just got this winch modle for around 400$. The thing is the Solenoid cover is broken so all the structure is gone and the Previous owner striped the screw holes (face palm) I guess he didn't know this was aluminum! I've been thinking about buying a new cower and rebuild the winch. But the cover isn't available anymore. The 9.5cti solenoid cover is a direct fit I read somewhere. I'm cheap so I was thinking about building my own cover :P Thanks so much for these rebuild videos! They've helped me allot! Love the home made sandblast cabinet! :D
