Thank you for your lovely videos sir. Just started an avocado field (approx. 50 trees will be planted), varieties are Hass and Fuerte... You do a marvelous job. Best Wishes from Crete, one of the biggest islands of Greece!!

+1 on Fuerte taste and texture. Had it for the first time this season. Even though the skin is thin like you said, I find it much stronger than a bacon avocado skin. I would break the bacon avocado skin trying to get the inside scooped out 50% of the time. I didn't have that problem with the 15 Fuerte avocados I bought. Your avocados look very nice. I wish more people grew these in southern California.

I knew our tree was special! I am now in a constant battle with a local squirrel who also loves them as much as we do - grrrr!

Thanks for the info and taste test. Fuerte is hard to come by, as they tend to alternate bear. Just added a small Sharwil in backyard. I've heard good things about it too.

Always love it when you realise a new Avo profile.

Would love to see one on a Hazzard, and a Russell a Sharwill and a Gwen avocado some day 👍🏻🥑

Greg you’re absolutely right. We had a Fuerte at the backyard since I was a kid (31 now). Growing up with my siblings we usually have them like snacks without anything, anytime (coz you know it’s just too good). We cut the parent tree off but planted a few more trees to keep the family and seeds as I’m starting a Fuerte orchard. It’s a very special avocado. I usually tell people who hadn’t tasted it yet but they never believed me. Nice video liked and subscribed.

Thanks for the Videos Greg, I came from your website. We are planting some trees now and your website has been inspirational.
Were in West San Fernando Valley, very hot summers. Hopefully in 4-5 years we will be doing well.
I planned to line 4 trees 9' apart along the north fence from east to west. A Fuerte, Haas, Bacon and Pinkerton.
The south fence gets some shade from the neighbors house, I worried during the winter it would be too much shade.
Hoping that they are close enough to cross pollinate well perhaps creating a hedge without being too tight.

We have fuerte avocados in grocery stores here in Czech Republic.

Hi Greg, it has been more than 4 years, I am curious if you still like the taste of Fuerte the most among avocados.

Fuerte's flesh looks a bit more juicy, tough and overall fruitlike than the Hass'. I wonder how well it would work in a guacamole.

It's mid November in Riverside county. A farmer sold me some fuertes. So far I mistakenly cut into 2 of them thinking they're ripe. How can you tell when they're ready to eat? Is November to early to take them off the tree?

I have a fuerte tree. I love it but the skin being thin is kinda annoying and the seed skin is always flaking off. The seeds on ours are small though so that’s nice

The minute I found an Ettinger and Sharwil out came my two baby Fuerte trees I planted in the fall. I'd rather have consistently producing trees with very good fruit, to the excellent tasting Feurte with its iffy production and spreading habit. Sad that the gueen green fruited Feurte has few clones other than Ettinger, whereas Black King Hass has Sir Prize, Lamb, Gwen, Carmen, GEM etc. Thx for the review.😀

Fuerte is a hybrid mexicola type as far as I remember, have you had any experience with cold hardyness?

Anybody ever tell you your voice sounds like Ben Afleck?

You need a correction. The Haas doesn't harvest in late winter, early spring. That's when the flowers pollinate for the fruit. The harvest is Aug thru Oct, September being the primary month to harvest. Unless you live in Australia, this info about the Haas avo in incorrect. I know. I have a Haas tree that I planted twenty years ago. Same time every year in CA.
