The whole "exploding lung" think kinda scares me lol

Thanks for the tip about the education portion! It's like 699$ CAD before taxes to get open water certified here and that can be a barrier! (but also learning about some of those things like rupturing your lungs DOES make me want to get proper training to do this safely. I am looking at becoming a liveaboard sailor and scuba diving (shallow dives) are somewhat essential skills for under the waterline boat repairs.

Thanks I will keep looking into things

I wanted to scuba dive, then saw “your lungs will burst!”. I’m having second thoughts. 😂

I can equalise my ears without blocking my nose. I don’t know if this is a common ability. I just kind of move my jaw and some muscles in my neck.

Any tips for people with the fear of open water? I want to take up diving, I've always wanted to do it but even more so because I'm so scared of it. but the idea alone makes me light headed and short of breath, watching this made me a little dizzy with anxiety. So are there any tips on how to overcome this?

He's just getting creative with words.
Smooth talker.
Learning to SCUBA is not difficult but, it's not for everyone.
First...can you swim? You'd be surprised at how many want to learn but can't swim.
This video, long on rhetoric and short on specifics.

"Mask Clearing is a skill you will use on every Dive" Well I guess it could be if your mask does not fit you correctly, I guess I was lucky to have an Instructor who took the time to explaine how to find a Mask that fits and seals right, then when I asked he spent the 45min it took to help me find and test Masks and there seals until I found one that I not only loved the design but that also correctly sealed to my face... I rarely ever had Mask leaks witb that mask or any other that I have bought and tested since and I have been diving since 1994 so been thriugh a lot of Masks as well... Lol

So whats the actual cost of getting the certification? I want to get into this? I was a firefighter so ive done the scba or self contained breathing apparatus training and used it countless times.
