I didn’t see the documentary but the moment I learned that his son Steve tried to follow his father’s dream (I guess) but CEO didn’t allow to do so, I knew right away that greed was surrounded Bob Ross, not the man himself but the CEO’s.

None of the money spent on his name goes to his son, do what you want, but I cannot in good faith or ethics buy anything from them. Just horrible, but if you are spreading awareness that corporation is stolen and nothing is going to Steve then it's cool.

Personally I’ve never used Bob Ross products but it’s crazy how my granddaddy took a Bob Ross class in the 80s and he told me she(Annette) was in the room and her vibe felt off. Now 23 years later I know why he said that, from that day my granddaddy only bought and used Alexander products, he said he refused to support a company ran by her. My granddaddy also said that the woman’s husband looked like a “crooked eyed cottonmouth slithering sideways out a swamp”.

Such a sad story. BR created his own legacy, and yet everyone wanted a piece of the pie, AND wanted to take credit. I especially feel bad for his son, and how he was cheated out of everything that his father built.

If his son started up something I’m sure people would follow him and not the Bob Ross line. I know I would!

In my opinion No I will not buy Bob Ross products. He never did an ad or encouraged people to buy his products when he was alive.. all he ever wanted was to encourage-people to paint and to be remembered and yes he inspired people to paint till this day and he is well remembered. I watched the documentary and it’s worth watching and I Wish Steve to continue.

I think there are better ways to keep Bob's memory alive than to monetarily support the very people who robbed him and his family, and hold his paintings hostage.

You do NOT HAVE TO BUY Bob Ross-related products. You are choosing too. There is a substitute for nearly everything that is sold on that site. And the fact that a lot of the stuff isn't American made anymore and the quality of the products is on a downward trend. There is no reason to support BRI anymore. Lost a tiny bit of respect for you. I am immediately finding substitutes for all Bob Ross products I use. I'm switching to Gamblin 1980 paints. I'm buying my brushes from Kevin Hill. And idgaf I'm torrenting Bob's original television series. Cause watching the Bob Ross youtube channel also sends money to those demons.

I only do digital because of the health concerns with oils and associated products, but if I did, BRI wouldn't get a single red cent from me, greedy, nasty people that have put a smear on Bob's good name... and to Jeff, all the best wishes and hope he is doing well!

After watching the documentary it sucks knowing that he suffered the way he did in the end... you never know what someone goes through behind the scenes

To me what’s so horrendous is the fact walt kept trying to get him to change his brushes and bob said no, i cant risk my name and reputation like that. Its so obvious the kowalskis exploited him stripped him of everything. Thats why none of the paints are that good and steve knows it. Thats why hes been trying to get his own brand launched. The kowalskis are a bunch of crooks and they should be in jail. Bob never wanted this for anything. He wanted it to be a quality brand. Thats also why steve didnt come on the show half as much because he never felt comfortable.

I watched it yesterday. I must admit I was a little scared. I was afraid to hear that Bob would be some kind of crazy person?. Lol No, he was a fantastic person.

I never would buy Bob Ross products because it was like buying a Cadillac instead of a Buick. I can buy cheaper materials that are just as good yet not as expensive. Bob was in fact a big inspiration to me, and basics I learned from him. I use acrylics, so I do actually do a type of wet-on-wet painting at times, but I call it wash over. Ill stain the canvas with a color, then even when it's not fully dry, begin to go over with another color to both blend the two and to get a different tone out of the top color. Acrylics dry fast, so you can do both. If I'm painting crafts which I do on wood, I'll work up to 5 paintings at a time, from gesso to base colors to blocking in. But I learned it from not only Bob, but first from Bill Alexander, who was the actual person who said, "happy little sky" and such. Problem was Bill had a very thick German accent, once people heard Bob talk with his very calming voice, it was sold. They both were good to watch, but to my opinion Alexander was the better painter, Bob was better at explaining it all. Bob did say once on the Donahue show though, that it was not fine art. He was a basic speed painter and was teaching it for people to find a hobby more than sell it for thousands....

Does anybody know where to get all the same brushes that bob used without buying the official BRI version? I’m having trouble finding good natural, thick brushes.

Bob once said "You need to have dark in order to show light." Which means when there’s bad, good will arise. So I know there still hope for Steve and the Ross family. And I’m also hoping that the Kowalskis will get arrested and Steve will take over the Bob Ross company!

I discovered Bob Ross during the pandemic and it like helped keep my sanity. Sad to hear what BRI has become. Also for those making suggestions on alternate products, thanks, it helps us beginners to know the alternatives so we can make informed decisions.

If the quality of Bob Ross paints and brushes were the great quality that Bob clearly demanded his name be on I would continue to buy them, but now I’m looking for alternatives. The quality is clearly not what it used to be

Wow! i have never bought anything from the bob ross line... I didn't know about it until a year ago, and i didn't think it was popular... The bob ross show yes... Products, no. I promise you all there are lovely alternatives! I know many of you would want to purchase less from the line after watching the doc, but hesitate because it's what you are used to buying..any other brands you have tried just doesn't feel right....you can absolutely find something else you enjoy using! Gamblin is a great brand and my personal fave!! i highly recommend their 1980s line. affordable and lovely buttery paint...

Bob Ross was as i'm sure you all know in your hearts a really lovely human being, watch him with his animal friends, you can see the guy just loved nature. God bless you at the end of each episode says it all.
The man did so much good in his life it's wrong to even taint his name or what he stood for in his life. If others profited from all his good work after his death, then shame on them! I say (if) as the world is just so full of greed these days and people speaking ill of others it's hard to know who's telling the truth anymore. Me personally, i will watch and remember Old Bob in the same light as i always have, a man who set a good and decent example to live your own life by.
