Featured on MANOWAR’s concept album “Gods Of War” which is based on Norse mythology, the song “Sleipnir” is dedicated to the mythical eight-legged horse of the same name.

Sleipnir is the son of the god Loki (in the form of a mare) and the stallion Svadilfari and is primarily ridden by the great god Odin.

With his eight legs, he can carry a rider anywhere within the nine realms of Norse cosmology in record time.

He possesses the power to move easily between realms, including the realm of the dead, which earned him his name, which means "the sliding one".

My son Tobias, age 3, died last Tuesday and he loved this song. Every night he stayed with me, before bed, he asked to listen. Now, Tobias is no longer with us... there were many battles in Brazilian justice to save his life... but unfortunately, in the end, he paid with his life. May the gates of Valhalla's welcome Tobias and may our voices be heard here on earth.

Heil Gods of War

God that chorus is absolutely glorious.

"Carry we who die in battle,
Over land and sea,
Across the RAINBOW BRIDGE,
*TO VALHALLA, *
ODIN'S WAITING FOR ME!"

Felt my heart soar with that one.

My Father died 17 years ago, and he loved that song very much, because he loved Manowar, but also Wikipedia, and this kind of song filled both his needs. He's still dead now, as far as I know, but I play every night one Manowar song, or read a wikipedia page with the voice you hear on all the Manowar songs since "Triumph of Steel", that one that sounds like when your local radio advertises a wrestling event. Sometimes I wonder which of the forementioned actions I made, listening to Manowar or read a wikipedia page, as they're so close to one another. Manowar is the father of Wikipedia Metal, Sabaton is its heir.

I'm glad they've been uploading literally everything else, say for their rendition of Silent Night which would be cool to hear in high quality, but I have no idea why they haven't released this full album. Its one of my favorite concept records, and one I love to sit and hear in full. By the time you hear the end, you feel something empowering that puts a smile on your face and warms your soul; The callback to the other tracks both instrumentally and musically is something you only feel enjoyment or appreciate in a full listen. It's like a mix of Lord of the Rings and Conan, long and epic yet cheezy and entertaining. Something else is it's the last album, say the mediocre to decent recording of Battle Hymn, to feature Scott Columbus. And he delivers some solid drumming on this album. Kinda think that manowar changed a bit after he died. Like when Ross left, like a dire piece you didn't think was important till it was gone, Manowar's followup Lord of Steel is still good but feels like it was lacking that extra thunder they had for so long.

Heathen here, theologically accurate while also being tactful. These lyrics are fantastic.
