Hi and Welcome at my Channel

Here i show only how to take off the Heatspreader´s on your PS3 FAT & Slim

You should do that if u have a temperature Problem or a fast turning fan at start, this will fix that all!

You can see on my other Video how to build it back again and how to apply the thermal compound back.

Wish you the best and leave me a comment if you have some questions.

Best Regards
NSC

Finally I bit the bullet and delided my ps3 CPU for the FIRST TIME IN MY LIFE .... and guess what, I succeeded
The method with nail pile is just brilliant, it's the most safest way to delid the CPU
BTW, after delid I did a cold test to see if I screwed up the CPU, I almost shat my pants when I saw blinking yellow light but then I realised I didn't plug the PSU on those 2 thick metal conductors on the mother board, thanks god LONG LIVE NSC !!!!

I've had many Game Overs with PS3s doing this with ultra sharp, ultra thin blades. It is faster, but if the silicon drives the blade the wrong way, you will scratch the CPU instantly. This is pretty much the best guide.

10 years later and this video is still saving lives ❤

Repaired successfully! I used on the cpu (Cell BE) a "Oil Knife Spatula
N°1" (the smallest); now the console doesn't suffer anymore of
overheating and auto-shutdown, it's like new! THANKS YOU!

I'd just like to say thanks to UltraNSC for his repair vids. I have managed to turn a £30 eBay PS3 that sounded like a jet engine after 5 minutes to super quiet machine that stays on for hours playing games with no problem. I used an art "knife" from hobby craft to take the CPU heat spreader off using the same technique as in this video. Make sure you do the finger nail test first :0)

I did mine yesterday. Great videos you helped a lot a gotta say I was sweating bullets doing the cpu. I did it a little different I used a feeler gauge that I sanded the edge with a dremal. Took what seemed like forever to get it to start cutting the silicone but once it was in it started going easy just went really slow. Did your cooling mods also and speed up the fan. Runs super cool now only 100 degree f coming out the back gaming.

u tried to open the CELL CPU or the RSX CPU? and witch blade did u use??? it musst be a very slim blade, or u can destroy your chip, so if u tried to open it, and if you have also put inside the blade, then maybe u have realy scratch the CPU :(

it just can be that problem, im nearly 90% sure... seems like u scratch the CPU? did u get IN the blade between Heatspreader and CPU? if yes, then u maybe realy have scratch the CPU = Contact lines damaged = YLOD

sry also for my english...

Do you have a video on how you make the tool? Did you sharpen the edges of the tool?

Hi NSC, great videos. Really useful info for PS3. How long did you heat the Cell IHS for in this video? Thanks 👍🏻

Use "fishing line" to floss the silicon adhesive to separate the IHS from the CPU

Yes, it was the FAT, i already did open a lot Heatspreaders, also with a Razor blade, i know what happens when you dont take care ^^

thats why im very skilled, but i realy have open a lots... and its like u told, it is very thing between Heatspreader and CHIP, thats why i did my own tool, so its Faster, Saver and Thiner ;)

Do you notice that the RSX chips on the slims have more of the thermal glue or tend to hold better than the fats? I've been able to do 2 successful delidding on a couple of my fatboys, but I had to throw in the towel the other day after attempting it on my slim. It looked like I could see more glue overlapping the chips than I had previously seen on my fat consoles.

wait, so did u open this 2 Heatspreaders or not???

a reball or heat up the chips can help, but oly if u have destroyed nothing...

What did u do? tell me... so i can help u more

damn, nice video. It would have been wonderful if I could have done it right. :P I spent all day working on my 60gb CECH-A01 drilling holes in it, taking off the video card heat spreader, cleaning it, putting on new thermal compound, reflowing it hoping it wouldn't get a ylod one day. Somehow I damaged the damn gpu in the process now its ylod. Perfect! To make matters worse im now living in cebu and there is not one person that can fix it. great!
