None of these issues solved my problem. I’m not receiving notifications to my comments. I’m not a content creator, but I do like to comment and respond. No dice.

PHEW thank you. you are the only one that mentions scrolling all the way to the bottom for the comments. This has been making my crazy. New computer . And this is where I found the issue. Really is awful they have changed this. I bet our channels get way fewer comments/engagement. Thank you again.

Edit: this is a super late edit but I just thought to put it here as well since I solved why I couldn't comment on particular things; If there is a comment with more than 500 replies you will always get an error and there is no way to fix it on your end. 500 is the hard limit for replies but only replies, i am not sure there is an hard limit for plain comments and if there is I have never seen it.

I never thought I would have an issue leaving a comment. Truly endlessly frustrating.

The problem I have is that obviously YouTube is very selective with the language you use and how rude your comments are, so I try to keep my comments clean of foul language and of anything that might be considered extremely hurtful and yet when someone says something really nasty to me or uses very inappropriate language, YouTube still allows those people’s comments to be posted and yet on the few occasions that I lose it and try to be harsh and reply back YouTube won’t let me. I don’t get it, I even removed all insults in my responses and tried with sarcasm instead, it still won’t let me post.

Thank you so much. Since yesterday it showed 'unknown error occurred' and I wasn't able to comment anything but after watching this video I went to the restriction mode option and it was already off but I activated it and then disabled and now everything is okay. ? But the comments link is also directly under the subscribe button at the top of the page. No real need to scroll all the way to the bottom of the page on a smart phone.

One thing missed here is if you have VPN switched on it can prevent you responding. Simply switch off VPN and see if that allows you to post . If it does then you need to contact your web security company and ask them to reconfigure your settings. I did that with McAfee and it was sorted in 5 minutes. Alternatively you could just switch it off whilst you post and then turn it back on. Gets a bit tiresome but gets round it .

Very useful thanks, but after following all of those steps I realised it was my VPN blocking my attempts to comment. I should have known. So simply turning it off did the trick. But the big bonus was finding your channel through your tips above. Now a firm fan! You have a lovely presenting style others should learn from.

I just got a new cellphone and i couldn't find the comment area, so I asked Google and found your video!! Thanks, I would never have thought to do that. My old phone was 4 yrs old and the comments were right under the video!

The YT screen you see can be entirely different, depending on whether you have been doing updates (auto? Or off?) and whether YT thinks you are on a phone, tablet, or computer. Somes phones are "seen" as tablets, and vice versa. Or, a browser on them may be forcing "desktop mode". So what one user gets, is not necessarily the same as the next
