The visual effects of "Guardians of the galaxy", "Star Wars: The Last Jedi" and "Planet of the apes" are outstanding, the visual effects of "Blade Runner 2049" blow me away since the moment i saw them in the big screen.

I can’t believe that Andy Serkis acted in 3 out of the 5 movies. Very busy man

Blade Runner 2049 used the special effects for building the world, rather than for massive action pieces. While the film as a whole was phenomenal, the cinematography, production design, and visual effects were unbelievably groundbreaking. While I was (also) hoping for War for the Planet of the Apes to win, Blade Runner 2049 absolutely deserved the victory. It was easily one of best films of 2017 (and potentially one of best sequels ever made, in recent memory).

Blade Runner 2049 benefitted greatly with the extensive use of practical effects, which will always trump CGI. I’m glad it won.

That said, I’m a bit sore the Apes team got through three films and lost each time. The best CG characters I’ve ever seen.

I'm glad that Tom Holland presented. Funny comment about him playing spider-man. I was thinking that Guardians of the Galaxy 2 was going to win, but now that I think about it, Blade Runner was just as good and deserved to win.

I really enjoy Blade Runner 2049, and The original classic Blade Runner too. So I'm glad the movie won The Oscar : )

Blade Runner 2049 and War for the Apes I think together and individually represent the current apex of modern visual effects. I'm so, so happy for Blade Runner's win here, but it's the one category where I wouldn't have minded a tie.

Wow. Blade Runner 2049 deserved this win. The way the special effects work as part of the setting and the story is truly incredible.

I'm glad Blade Runner 2049 did take Best VFX. Don't get me wrong, War For the Planet of the Apes is amazing and flawless with it's effects and all but the two scenes in 2049 (The love scene and Rachel clone) that made me go like "How on God's good Earth, did they do this?" Apes motion capture was stunning, but after watching all the behind the scenes videos of Blade Runner 2049 and seeing how seamlessly the CGI was blended in, it deserved it a little bit more for me. Apes effects were focused on one thing, making the apes look real. Of course it was amazing. Blade Runner 2049 was so much more. Sets, miniatures, vehicles, landscapes, and technology of the future. Felt like the whole film was visual effects instead of just one piece of it. That's just my two cents.
