Never thought I'd see the day that elgin finally makes a Ruby guide..

I'm happy that people are finally realizing the true power of ruby even tho its almost 7 years late xD but im also afraid with this much popularity for her right now might result in an inevitable nerf for her soon.. its been harder for me to play her as more start to pick and ban her 😭at the very least i just hope they only nerf her dmg cuz thats what she was buffed with recently..

Fun fact: As of now, the mechanics of the Flicker is that "if you are holding the joystick and you use flicker, where you are dragging the joystick is where you will go regardless of where you are facing". You will notice this if you try to use flicker on khufra 1st skill while holding the joystick

The War axe adjustment really helps Ruby a lot. I've been using her in advanced server since I had an account.. I can't really use her in original server a lot 'cause I'm that one who adjusts when no one else does. HAHAHA

I think the best part of ruby is her skill 2, it almost have zero animation time to cast, her skill 2 will always be prioritize to land first before any enemy skill, really great to cancel enemies combo.

As a ruby main I suggest this build:
Bloodlust axe, boots, war axe defense item (I usually get brute force breastplate for extra chasing potential or dominance ice for anti heal), hunter strike or malefic roar, life steal/defensive item

Ruby excels in going straight to the enemies. Just go hog wild and stun enemies and absorb the enemies damage and hope your team has enough braincells to engage once you go set the enemies. Ive had plenty of times where i set the enemy team and my team just ignores it and farms creeps instead

Another thing to note is to play around with her passive, you could dash forward, backward or sideways. But backward dash gave less distance iirc

take my advice as an ex global ruby player, if you want the most comprehensive guide on ruby, go watch ikanji's videos. The builds are very different from what you'd see in the top few global builds, but from my 500+ matches and 75% wr with ruby in this season, I can testify that it is the current best build.

The key to high dmg is that u do a basic attack between each skill, dash and the next skill. In combo with endless battle u deal serious dmg.
Also instead of Flicker i would use arrival skill.
It is really powerfull in cases like 4 enemys attacking tower. U can use ultimate and pull them in to the tower and stun them with second skill.
Its a gamechanger in lategame to save turrets and base .
And the best, u dont have to walk all the way back after respawn. U can increase push pressure and push bottom and toplane wave at the same time.

I used Ruby for the first time today since every hero is available to play. Ive run into her everywhere, casual, ranked. It doesn't matter and without fail, someone always uses her. and i have trouble with her being on the opposing team. And i get why people use her. She's very easy to use and a very clutch, strong hero. Her regenerative abilities are so awesome and i enjoyed using her. Definitely gonna buy her when I get enough gold. yay! I was ruby main, if we are first pick we prioritize ruby as exp or core, ruby with healing allies like rafaela or estes makes her formidable in the battle. Ruby is a complete package of sustain damge hero with annoying CC

Ruby main here, practice your backwards and forwards flicker hook. It's her bread & butter while also being her only skill shot. Here's a tip, the timing to execute her flicker hook is a little tricky. Her forward flicker hook has no pause while her backwards flicker hook has a slight pause before you hit flicker.

Furthermore, she has a small window to dash after each skill cast, so that means you can squeeze in an extra basic attack before dashing away,
i.e: 2-BA-DASH-BA
Depending on the situation, it makes a huge difference between letting your enemy escape and securing a kill, so I suggest you to switch your joystick settings to fixed position, that way you do not have to drag to move and just tap the direction to want to dash to, it's quicker, the window to dash is small after all.

The amount of heal you can do isn't solely based on your spell vamp stat but also the damage you can dish out so in certain situations you can opt for more atk stat instead. (Which is why you heal more with skill 1&3 even though all 3 skills provide 125% spell vamp)

Lastly, the amount of HP you heal is based on TOTAL damage dealt to ALL enemies, so during fights, it's better not to be so eager in clearing minions. That's all from me, happy hooking!

now I will never get to play ruby again, I've been noticing her getting banned this season and I main her ever since Season 4 or 3, I forgot when I started
I got to see tank ruby, damage ruby, lifesteal ruby, spellvamp ruby and now she get more love because war axe and it is really great, I hope bloodlust axe get a revamp because it's kinda useless right now, maybe add an anti-anti-heal mechanic for it

ruby is a very flexible hero with a lot of different build options and playstyle depending on team & enemy comp. she's a very well balanced hero who will always have a place no matter the meta. I'm a ruby main with 1100+ match with her. she's just so fun to play

Surprised Elgin didn't cover the autoattack techs which actually adds an entire new layer of gameplay, especially considering that one of his recommended builds uses endless battle.

In the early game in the right situations you can do S1-Auto-Hop-S2-Auto-Hop away. In fact you can even just win trades with S2 - Auto - (S1 + auto) - move if anyone wants to use an engage tool on you.
This completely charges War Axe on its own making a waraxe rush a viable option rather than doing the recommended build here. With these tech you can also optionally go for non 40% cooldown builds if building tankier since you aren't entirely reliant on your skills for damage (although its still ideal to get as high of a CDR as you can)

You can also mix up the delayed s2 on the pull combos by doing Ult - (auto) - S1 - (auto) - S2 if you have other CC options. All actions in brackets are optional.

Another tip for ruby is to dance around your enemy be nimble, her passive made her very flexible. Prey on your enemy, and when they least expect strike them hard, real hard because as of now ruby's dmg is insane if you build her right.
