About us,

We are a family from the North-East of England following our dream to restore a beautiful abandoned french Château. We discovered the heart stopping Château De Lalacelle in summer of 2020, this beautiful architectural monument Is set in the countryside of North-West France.

The moment we visited the Château we all fell in love, from the beautiful sweeping landscape and forests, to its stunning untouched interiors and magnificent spiral staircase in the turret.

Unfortunately Château De Lalacelle has been abandoned for a number of decades so will need a lot of restoration and DIY.

Please subscribe and follow our families journey, with the up’s and down’s in moving from the UK to rural France and restoring this beautiful building to its former glory.

The only tip I can give you is 'You can never have too many plug sockets' that's from experience

I love the way you don't treat Jonathon dismissively. He will grow up to be very secure in who he is. The room at the end of the vlog will look fabulous. Low ceilings keep the warmth in. Looking forward to Wednesday.

Jonathon is so precious. He is learning so much from you all, and you provide him with wonderful role models to emulate.

So glad you're taking steps to save, restore and protect this marvelous place. It was almost painful watching the wood crumble in your hands, Terry. I absolutely love the wood paneling in the house and its intelligent layout.

What a grand wee lad is Jonathan! He's learning a lot from his very skilled family. This old lady Chateau is going to be beautiful after all the work of your loving hands Love it when you say you'll "crack on".

I think Tony is the hero of this channel. The amount that he has achieved in the cottage with Traceys help is astounding.

Congrats on joining Patreon - great way for viewers to participate in this epic restoration. And viewers, another wonderful way of helping is by watching the adverts in their entirety. Doing that little bit adds up and creates additional needed resources. Costs involved in restoring a chateau are tremendous and endless. This family is obviously dedicated and deserving of assistance in their labor of love. Tracey, all of you are magic!

Don’t forget to hide a few letters from you to the house. Tell her what it was that made you love her and who all is there helping restore her beauty. Put it in a bottle or jar with other items; like a piece of original wall paper from the room and in the future someone will find it. Kinda like a time capsule. It will be a piece of history… do it in the cottage too.

One of my favorites is when you end with all of you catching us up and have a fun little banter. So fun to see these!!!

The very first video when I saw the staircase, that’s when I fell in love with this chateau, and I now see that you all are the perfect caretakers to bring her back! Lots of hard work bringing her back to the beauty that she once was and will be again. My hat is off to you (I wear hats every day) for your courage and perseverance. I enjoy the mid week updates and thank you for sharing this project! Best wishes from Florida!

Excellent work lads and lass. Get yourselves a bucket chute to get all debris down to ground. Simply chuck the chute out a window of the room you're working in and toss everything down it. They're so lightweight now it's easy to pull up and move to the next window.

Someone else mentioned an electric winch. That's a great idea. Even if you may not find one to reach the top, two less costly winches, moving the load from one to the other halfway up, would certainly speed things up for bit. Not to worry, you'll still be gettin in your steps. With a chute, nobody runs the risk of a grossly over developed bum. Lol

Thank you for sharing your lives with us.

Cheers!

I removed layers and layers of wallpaper with a large spray bottle like the one Tony uses to apply the wood worm treatment. I used liquid fabric softener 1/4 to 3/4 water. Soak let stand for 10-15 minutes. Scrapes right off.

As an American, I really enjoy watching your videos. We have NOTHING like this going on in my country. If someone has a 50 year old house, we think of it as ancient! Here's to living vicariously!!!!
