Most people: "If it ain't broke, don't fix it."
Microsoft: "Let's fix something that ain't broken."

I hate the fact that they said Windows 10 would be the last version of Windows, then they go and make an 11!

Who here likes Control Panel over the Settings app? I'm running a computer, not a tablet.

I still think that Windows 7 was the best

I feel the same about W11 as I did about W8 - "What a load of crap!"

Bring back Windows 7 format please! Best OS MS came out with after XP.

So, MS has adopted the Apple philosophy where the company knows what the user needs/wants better than the user.

Yup. Definitely not jumping to 11 right away.

I'll definitely be sticking with Windows 10 for a while. Taken me a while to get used to Windows 10, but at least its more user friendly in my experience.

I love Windows 11 big time because its just the inspiration I needed to install Linux mint and it's brilliant. Thank you Microsoft

Why does Microsoft think we want our computers to feel like we are using our phones?!

Q: Why do you treat your customers so poorly?
A: Microsoft: "Because, f'ck 'em! That's why."

I totally dislike that I "have" to junk four perfectly good computers just because the Almighty Holy Microsoft says so. Four new PCs!!! It just ain't going to happen, Oct 2025 or no Oct 2025. (I also get a bit tired of all the scaremongering that goes on about "unsupported" operating systems). What IS going to happen in Oct 2025 is the two that I mostly use offline will go completely offline, and the other two, which I use for more day-to-day stuff, will go to Linux.

I also Really, Truly hate the fact that I MUST have a Microsoft Account in order to use a computer. That's total bullshit, and I'm not wearing it.

Then there was the lie that we were told about how Windows 10 would be the last.

So Windows 11 could be the best thing since sliced bread, but for the above reasons, I will be doing without it. Simple as that.

I left Win 10 in 2016 due to telemetry and went back to Win 7 Pro but then MS decided to back port dodgy stuff and made Windows updates super slow to try and get me to upgrade to Win 10, so I did a complete re-install thinking something was weird and even though my internet was perfect but it took so many hours to complete the Windows update that I decided to try another OS. I find no excuse why MS think they own my PC/Laptop when they didn't pay for it. Yes for a few months I jumped from distro to distro to find my comfort zone. Finally landed on POP-OS, it works no hassle, no telemetry, I play my games in Steam using Proton. I use Firefox for Web browser and VLC for music and Video. I have access to so many software packages they I am actually overwhelmed with choice. Customising my desktop is no issue. 100% stable, Updates don't interfere with my usage, but I am using a nice laptop 3900X, RTX2070, 32GB ram, 1TB NVMe, 1TB SSD but even my old 6700K with GTX1080 and 32Gb Ram is still fine. Sooner or later people will see the light - maybe !

When is the last time a software company has had the power to wave their finger, and make obsolete every system before 2016? THAT is why we hate windows 11. My Ryzen 7-1700 isn't even on the compatibility list, and, according to Microsoft will not be supported or receive updates.
No better time to start looking at windows-like Linux distros like Zorin.

This is what happens when you shoehorn in a side/sub OS meant for light devices (Windows 10X) into a major full fledged OS sequel at the relative last minute. Things like the limited taskbar location feels like an artifact of that.

Microsoft should have released 10X seperately as a lightweight/Chromebook competitor as per the original plan, then see how it's received before integrating or making it the main Windows.

Microsoft's completely - pointless - removal - of features from Windows 11 that existed in Windows 10, such as the destruction of the start menu, is the biggest I will NOT be upgrading to Windows 11. Based on past history, once Microsoft has suffered massive, withering, nearly universal, criticism for a year or so, (as they did with Windows 8), msft seems likely to restore at least some of the functionality they have removed from the beta quality unfinished trash they are foisting onto the world just days from now. In the meantime, I've got until some time in 2025 to stay far away from all the new bus that Microsoft has surely introduced ...

Hate: The imposition of the minimum requirements for a minimum generations of CPU. Why? TMP2.0 ??? The overwhelming number of PCs out there have TPM 1.2 on them Why? Microsoft? Why? PROFIT and MONEY GRAB to FORCE new hardware sales. Nope. NOT DOING IT. Not at my expense. When my old PC's die and need replacement, they'll get replaced, but not until then. Not Windows 11? EFFING GOOD.
