What's fun about winter backpacking for me is it's a different challenge. Hiking in the heat of summer here can be just as difficult as hiking in very cold weather. That's number one. Number 2 is that I can go to the same places in the winter and it's a whole new world. Number 3 and 4 are no bugs and less people.

I LOVE THIS!!! My husband and I hike/backpack together but it seems like there are no “normal” couples that do. They are all super extreme and what not! So this was a super nice surprise!

I hot tent with my 6 year old and have to keep the stove going most the night. I like to rotate my stove to add wood while in my sleeping bag also put the pile of wood between me and the stove to keep the sleeping bag away.

What makes winter camping great? No people, bears or bugs. Hey what are those green bags you use on your feet over your socks in another video you did? Just bought the Baffin Eiger boots and might have to use them to avoid getting the liners damp.

Also wondering if you have to dig out a spot if you are hot tenting to avoid snow melt issues, especially later in the season with a deeper snow pack. I think you said in the Taylor lake video that you usually just pack the snow down.

Got one question: where did you shove that stove in your pack? It just doesn't look like it would fit in with everything else. Were you using a pulka too, it doesn't look like enough snow.

Hey Justin, nice video, I have a question. I see in your videos you often cook food right next to where you sleep. However, I've read that it is not a good idea due to animals like foxes or even bears coming to inspect your campsite later. What's your thoughts on that? Ever encountered any curious bears at night? :)
