CHAMPAGNE POMMERY - Winemaker Interview and Champagne Tasting

In this Attorney Somm Podcast, John Jackson, DipWSET a/k/a Attorney Somm conducts an interview and Champagne tasting with Champagne Pommery's winemaker, Clement Pierlot on Instagram Live. Mr. Pierlot provides numerous Champagne facts and discusses the rich heritage of Champagne Pommery, including its founding and key historic milestones.

Mr. Pierlot then discusses his role as Chef de Cave for Champagne Pommery, a large Champagne house, and the numerous responsibilities he has in that role.

Champagne Pommery also has numerous wine tourism opportunities for those interested in visiting Champagne. Champagne Pommery has been recognized as a UNESCO world heritage site. While visiting, you can also tour the chalk caves and taste Champagne, which is sparkling wine made in the traditional method from grapes grown in the Champagne region. By visiting you can gain a deeper understanding and appreciation for Champagne.

Mr. Pierlot then discusses the house style Champagne of Champagne Pommery and what makes it unique. This is followed by a virtual tasting of the Champagne Pommery Brut Royal, which is the flagship Champagne for Champagne Pommery. This non-vintage Champagne is made with equal parts of Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier and includes both the current vintage as well as reserve wines. Champagne Pommery also offers exceptional quality for the price and is a top wine value. In the U.S., it sells for approximately $40.

We then taste and discuss the 2004 Pommery Cuvee Louise Brut Millesime, which is a luxury Champagne and Champagne Pommery's tete de cuvee. This wine was aged for an extended period of time on the lees at the winery and is the current vintage available on the market. Mr. Pierlot explains why this is such a special Champagne and Pommery's best Champagne.
