How to make a Mac window take up the screen without going full screen, meaning you can still see the app icons on the dock at the bottom and the menu bar on top. Several ways to change. MacBook Pro 16 used.

I waited 15+ years to figure this out smh... thanks!!! works like a charm. Best option for me is the option key + size adjuster in the top left corner

Macos is an everyday torture, thank you for video - such a ridiculous and weird way instead of just using one button

This one little detail made Mac so frustrating for me. Having my Finder windows and some apps randomly be a different size when I opened them was whack. Thanks for your help with the simple shortcut to fix that.

Is there any way to make that last example the default with the normal maximize button so it basically behaves like Windows does. Some of the default window management behavior in macOS is just infuriating to me...

great tip! never thought to use my modifiers when browsing finder. Wish there was a way to do what we are looking for though with one click

Thank you for this video! I wish there was a setting to change that would make it so the fullscreen button was just the same as maximizing the window without hiding the top bar.

Yay this is amazing! When I am in full screen mode I can't drag any other tabs from my other monitor ontop of the full-screen window. Now I can have an expanded window while also being able to drag and drop other windows on top :)

Thank god! I've been look for this in ages!!! I hated the default windows ratio. Would be really grateful if you know a way to this automatically for all tabs.

Option double-click on the corner... thank you. I feel like this should be the default behavior if you just click on the maximize button. Number of times I've ever wanted to go into full screen mode when clicking on that button: ZERO. Number of times I've only wanted it to maximize vertically, leaving all the background clutter in my line of sight: ZERO! The apps where I DO want full screen mode (Apple TV, YouTube, Netflix, etc.) have an explicit button in their UI that does that for me. There's gotta be a preferences file (not on the UI, but in the command line) that can be edited to make this option double click behavior the default when you click the green button.

Thank you! However, is it possible to minimise a full screen page? because every time I turn to a full screen, the minimise mark (the yellow one) become locked and turn to a grey colour

mac is ridiculous, it`s torture to use this os, they should make it more friendly for windows users

Absolutely asinine macos. I guess Mac users don't need other windows when we need to maximize one??
