I would not hold my breath on a module for the MacPro, why would apple keep working on two different platforms (Intel and M-based) at the same time. I think best case scenario is a decent Trade-In Program.

The Ultra chip is absolutely bananas! And at the end of the livestream they said the Mac Pro is the last computer to get the M1 treatment. If the Studio is THIS fast, I can't even imagine what they have in store for the Mac Pro.

This Video was what I needed, I was about to buy a Mac Pro spec'ed out 24 cores, between 128gb to 256gb. and the base model radeon. It would cost me a total of about 7500 that is me buying a refurb one from apple and doing the upgrades myself. Michael Should I go with the fully decked out Mac Pro studio ? Which is just under 5500.

I'm doubtful that the "old" Mac Pro's will be upgradeable, because you'd basically have to replace the whole motherboard. The bus and system architecture is different (and has oodles more bandwidth) and if they'd offer you an upgrade kit, that would be basically replacing everything inside your MacPro and you'd just get to keep the case.

I got the M1 Mini as soon as it came out. Love it. I had hoped it would be updated to be more powerful (I’m mostly FCP, but use Resolve a bit), so I got the Pro Display XDR in anticipation of upgrading to a new Mini in the future. But this Mac Studio is more than I could have hoped for! So, I just pre-ordered the M1 Max version. Should be a perfect HDR video workstation now!

I feel you, I have an iMac Pro which was very expensive too at the time.
It’s still a powerhouse for professional video editing today, but this new Mac Studio is insanely good value for money and even faster, it’s very interesting.

Got the Max with $200 chip upgrade, and $400 RAM upgrade. I’m coming from a late 2015 iMac, which I was planning on upgrading around the time Apple announced the transition to their own silicone. It’s been a long wait to arrive at a performance-oriented desktop Mac with Apple Silicone, but the Mac Studio sure is a Goldilocks of a machine. It would’ve been nice to see a 24” XDR type monitor to go with it, as my primary work is editing and color grading cinema camera footage in Davinci Resolve, but I’ll have to revisit the XDR versus ProArt and Dell offerings sometime later this year.

The rumors are the new Mac Pro will be a half-size tower, with some PCI expansion slots, but not full because most of the stuff such CPU, GPU, RAM and SSD will be on the main board. It would probably be like two Mac Studio stacked up or so…
