Well said Glenda, we are still suffering because of Thatcher, she's one of the worst things that's happened to our country 😕

Glenda used to be my MP, I never tire of her raking Thatcher down so eloquently. The evil monster is dead but her vindictive legacy still haunts us.

Glenda Jackson's speech was epic at the time and spoke a truth that still resonates today. We live in Thatcher's Britain in 2025 due to the egregious effects of her policies. I was in Southport my home town today and could not help reflecting that many of the people with obesity, mobility, mental health and other issues clearly evident on the street will both have voted for the Tories ( 'new'Labour failed to reverse Thatcherism) since 1979 and become its victims. Just as the generations after them are due to income inequality in the most unequal country in Europe. The poorest third of the population of eastern Europe is wealthier than their equivalents in Britain. In the sixth richest economy in the world- the money is mostly in the hands of the rich while the victims of a failed economic model suffer. Countless opportunities to reverse the dystopian nightmare Thatcher created have been missed by the voters who have been brainwashed into thinking that moderate democratic socialism is their enemy, allowing the rich to wage class war on the majority.

Thatchers policies still have great detrimental effect to this day, three major factors, selling much of Britain's infrastructure E.g. Energy. British telecom. British steel. Most railway companies. Obolished credit control " to buy a home was based on one person income" properties spiralled throughout the 1980s, selling council houses aventually created housing shortage which has been detrimental effect over past forty years. Closing coal mines putting many out of work, still effects their communities to this day. Was said by many politicians Thatcher and her government were selling off Britain's silverware which will effectively create problems for future generations. It has!

Of course, as we all know, all that Maggie really needed was a little Willie...
