After touch down on the mains, keep the nose up with a little power, pushing the tailplane down. Because on an irregular field there might be gopher holes or other depressions, that can damage the nosewhell strut.
In other words it is a soft field landing.

I flew 172 in the Australian bush area and if a foot path was wide enough to walk on we could usually get down if we had to. It could be an emergency and we had run out of beer!

Small spot? Why that's about the longest grass runway I ever saw, and I learned on an 1, 800 foot strip with 50 foot powerlines on the north end!
