Body believed to belong to missing Michigan woman found in fertilizer tank

A body believed to be that of Dee Warner, who has been missing since April 2021, has been found, a family spokesperson has confirmed to WTOL 11 on Sunday morning.

Michigan State Police state an autopsy is needed for official confirmation. Remains were found during a search of a property belonging to Dale Warner, Dee's husband, who is charged in her death. An autopsy on the body believed to be Dee Warner is to take place on Tuesday, Aug. 20.

The First District of the Michigan State Police issued a statement to update what troopers term an ongoing investigation into the disappearance of Dee Warner, stating that during the execution of a search warrant in Lenawee County on property belonging to Dale Warner, human remains were found. Officials were out on two properties belonging to Dale Warner on Friday, Aug. 16.

Honestly, anhydrous ammonia is so dangerous. As farm kids we were never allowed anywhere near those tanks. It doesn’t actually surprise me that hidden in plain site, she was in a container that is dangerous to have contact with, open, etc. looks like there was a lot of overgrown property with outbuildings filled with junk. Just grateful she has finally been found, her husband’s trial is about to begin, & this will strengthen it. But it is horrible

Dee Ann Warner, a 52-year-old mother of five and grandmother, was last seen on April 25, 2021, near her home in Lenawee County. Her disappearance sparked an investigation, and her husband, Dale Warner, was arrested in November 2023 and charged with open murder and tampering with evidence.

On August 18, 2024, Michigan State Police announced that human remains were found on Dale Warner’s property during the execution of a search warrant. The remains are currently being recovered and tested to confirm identification. The family of Dee Warner has been notified of the findings.

Dale Warner has denied any involvement in his wife’s disappearance and is scheduled to appear in court on September 4 for a pretrial hearing. He is being held at the Lenawee County Jail on a $15 million bond.

The investigation into Dee Warner’s disappearance and presumed death is ongoing. The family had previously offered a $50, 000 reward for information leading to her remains and had held a celebration of life for her earlier this year, despite her body not having been found at that time.

Been following this case almost from day one because I was up in Michigan visiting family when Dee went missing.

Yes, of course her family knew she was gone but here is that thud that removes that little tiny daydream that may have skipped across their minds. Maybe she's alive but...

She was just across the street…but thanks to the fine men and women in law enforcement who never gave up, Dee Warner will rest peacefully and justice will now be served. I hope this brings her family great some peace!

Anybody from the Midwest knows that if the body was found in an anhydrous ammonia tank, there is a whole lot more going on to the story.

Anhydrous Ammonia is a serious corrosive, burning eyes and respiratory tract. I would be interested to know how they were able to clean and cut that tank without sustaining any exposure effects/injuries.
