Anybody who knows about Ghana's military history knows that Ashley-Lassen is one of the legends. The name alone speaks volumes. The Wig Commder's assertion that Ojukwu taught Gowon at Teshie is very incorrect. General Yakubu Gowon trained at the Sandhurst military academy and received his commission as a 2nd lieutenant in 1955. Ojukwu on the other hand received his commission in 1958. Some of the contributions of the Wing Commander, like the Ghanaian air force being readied to bomb Lagos during the civil war, were quite inaccurate or largely made up. The only African countries that demonstrated some official sympathy for Biafra were, Tanzania, Zambia, Gabon and the Cote D'Ivoire.
