For me the worst thing about this movie is that it isn’t even that bad. It does practically nothing wrong but that’s it’s main problem. It’s so incredibly generic and boring that it’s not even so bad it’s good. It’s just straight up not enjoyable, not even in an ironic way.

I remember seeing trailers and going “this looks generic”. I’m gonna guess how it ends before watching the video and I haven’t seen the movie. It probably ends with both sides realizing that nobody is perfect and they all have a big dance party

the funniest thing about this movie to me is that its meant to be about accepting yourself and not being ashamed of being ugly or whatever but then the designer's changed the original designs of the uglydolls to be more appealing

coming from an old hardcore ugly dolls fan: the books were just a way to criticize capitalism. it was called ugly town because of how crowded and busy it was. they should’ve kept with that message rather than ‘being different is good!’ like we’ve seen a million times. it’s so ironic now. id laugh if it wasn’t sad.

When you compare it to what the ugly dolls looked prior, it's very clear that they had softened up their appearance to make them more "marketable." Moxy is a great example of this as they redesigned her to be way more commercially feminine looking as well as turning her pink, instead of looking like Ox because she was based on the creator's sister. Ox is him as an Uglydoll if I didn't make that clear.

You know what sucks the most? The director for this movie had co-directed Shrek 2 and Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron before. And he passed away in 2020, so this is the last thing he ever made, and it's trash

Honestly I know 2D animation has gone out of style... or whatever, but I feel like Ugly Dolls would’ve been significantly more visually appealing if it had a 2D animation style
