October 2023 Solar Eclipse: An annular solar eclipse is coming to the United States on 14 October 2023 after more than 11 years. An annular solar eclipse occurs when the Moon covers the center of the Sun, leaving a radiant ring, often referred to as the "ring of fire." The eclipse will sweep all of North America, Central America, and most of South America. Viewers in parts of America will have a chance to see two incredibly rare phenomena: the Ring of Fire and Baily's Beads.

In the US, the Ring of Fire will be visible from Southern Oregon, Northeastern California, Northern Nevada, Southern Utah, Southwest Colorado, Northeastern Arizona, New Mexico, and Texas.

Two weeks later, a partial lunar eclipse will occur on Saturday, 28 October 2023. It will be visible in Asia, Russia, Africa, Europe, Antarctica, and Oceania. The eclipse will begin at 7:36 p.m. GMT and end at 8:53 p.m. on 28 October. In India, the eclipse will start at 1:06 a.m. on 29 October and end at 2:23 a.m. It will be a short eclipse lasting for about 75 minutes. The maximum eclipse will occur at 01:45 IST, when 12% of the Moon's disk will lie in shadow.

I was able to experience the path of totality in the 2017 eclipse that crossed the state of Wyoming. It was one of the most astounding events I ever witnessed. It was eerie, as soon as the eclipse happened crickets began chirping and coyotes began to howl….. it was a powerful event that affected me almost as deeply as it affected all of the wildlife around me. Truly a amazing event that I will never forget.

The wife and I made our reservations months ago for October and April.
Driving four hours south this weekend, and six hours west in April.

I’m so excited& watching from San Antonio, TX! I’ve seen a couple partial solar eclipses and the 2017 total, but I’ve never seen an annular eclipse. I’m excited to see what it looks like and how the lighting will change compared to what I saw in the 10-20 minutes before totality in 2017.

What is IST as in 1:45 IST. I know GMT, Pacific Time, EST, etc etc; so what's IST ?

I saw one in Missouri on 8-21-2017, the sunlight filtering through the tree leaves made a million tiny pinhole cameras to see the eclipse on the sidewalk.

Don't look directly at the /s
