Very clear explanation, Robert. I had been toying with the idea of buying a CYA AoA indicator.
I will instead make a copy of your "Wool 'n Wire" AoA a wonderfully simple idea. Thank

One of the best videos on AOA, it's a shame more pilots havn't seen this. Even if bits of red wool are not attached to all aircraft, the discussion of AOA relative to flight conditions, stall, elevator, etc. is very valuable. Great work Robert!

This video is a neat demonstration of the variation in stall speeds at different flight conditions. (You could also have added a light and heavy aircraft weights, which also affect stall speed, but not stall angle.)
I taped a length of red yarn at the bottom left corner of my windscreen, so that it streams back past the left door frame. I then did some stalls and marked the door frame with the location of the string during a stall. Per this video, I am going to add a line on the side windscreen where it streams past, extending the door frame mark forward. It's always right there in my view when I am in a normal traffic pattern. Easy peasy.
