Bokhara rug's original design was inspired by Persian Turkoman design.

Older traditional Afghan and Pakistan weavers took these designs and started making them in workshops in Pakistan where good materials and tools are much more accessible thus creating modern versions.

Bokhara rugs are identified for their repeating rows of Guls. The Gul design is basically a stylized octagonal flower arranged in uniform columns and rows in the field.

There are also what we call the Fine Bokhara rugs which are more detailed and more intricate because of their high knot density.
