Artificial intelligence systems require increasing computing power and challenge the limits of today's microelectronics. Searching for disruptive ways to satisfy demanding hardware requirements, the PHOENICS project aims to establish new computing architectures: neuromorphic photonic processors. ”Photonic processors are a new concept, but they are on the verge of becoming reality.”
