After a warm fall we're inspecting colonies in December with the hopes of finding them broodless so we can deliver an affective oxalic acid vaporization treatment for varroa mites.

Hello, Bob! First time to contact you, although Iam watching your work, with great interest and admiration.Iam sending this from Athens Greece, and here we are not familiar with the Fahrenheit scale, so every time you give a temperature I Google it to convert it to Celsius!I just saw that you were sublimate with 40 f(4, 4c) that’s cold and the bees cluster, I was wandering is it something you see effective? Wishing you all the very best for the new year, health, prosperity, and good luck in everything you do for the years to come. Tino, from Athens Greece a fellow beekeeper!

I agree, the second round of OAV is important. If the treatment gets 75%, on a 7% colony, first time will knock down 5.5%, second time will knock down 1.3%.

Beautiful Video Bob, mine didn't go into broodless period, my bees will struggle varroa, but I thought that POL line meant polygenic cause they are monitored by those 16 genes that heritate resistance to mites .
Thanks to the Video, appreciate your all knowledge 👍

I had those Pol Lines as well. Man, they are good type of bees. They like to reproduce like there's no tomorrow. I like to see my colonies full of bees; their color is beautiful.

By November, our hives are wrapped up for 5 months.
Somewhere between then and mid March, the itch to start working bees infects us, not sure when exactly. Seeing you open hives in December confirms it’s later than now. 😂

They look great.
Beekeeping in the southern US is a whole lot different from beekeeping in MN.

We will be doing just as you are doing in a couple of weeks. Not going to find brood. However not so sure as to the much warmer than normal temperatures? Predicted that today may be the hottest December day on record. It gets cool at night but not freezing and below as is normal this time of year. Of course we also learned a couple of things in this video. As always Thank You for sharing!

Morning Bob and Crew, I Hope you all had a Wonderful Christmas.
I think we are going to have to watch food stores this year, a lot of videos of colonies are going through food quick this Winter.

Hope to see you in a few days! Worked the bees yesterday here in Ohio, with temps in the 60’s. Piling on the fondant.
