Blue Ridge Parkway 'Deforestation' From Helene

preview_player
Показать описание
Hurricane Helene "deforested" parts of the Blue Ridge Parkway where fall foliage normally would be, there are now just trunks of trees, many on the ground. AccuWeather's Aaron Rigsby is back in Asheville, NC with a new cache of supplies to help, and he talks about the challenges still facing many mountain communities nearly a month after the storm. #helene #northcarolina #asheville

Crazy that a hurricane didn't dissipate over dry land but could wreck this kind of damage and of all places the Carolinas

It looks like a tornado hit. You have a line if trees not hit, looking great. Then right beside it mass damage.

Its sad. But this is nature. It will take years. But it will grow back.

I just drove through it, there were so many trees that had been cut back just enough to open roads. I took 107 to 226 into Unicoi and they were just focusing on getting trees cutback enough to open roads, they will have to go back and cut the rest later. It's going to take years.

💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔
So sad mostly for the residents, for all those affected by this terrible tragedy.
Sad also for the devastation of those amazing forests. In the beginning of the vid you see the majestic autumn colors and as the video proceeds my heart once again breaks. I pray for all❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

Just curious, what are they doing with all the wood?

I live just on the other side of the TN border, and yeah, I've got enough firewood for a decade now. I have never seen anything like what came through here.
