Blair's Holden VY Commodore SS street car runs well with only a camshaft engine upgrade. The combination uses E85 ethanol fuel, stall converter and diff gears to run some impressive numbers. Tuned by A.P.S.

I'm not too fussed guys. Its my daily driver and I'm out to run times for myself. So if that means street trim or not really doesn't matter much to me.

That's a very good effort for an LS1 with a cam only upgrade !

Mine had a tune, diff ratio change & custom exhaust upgrade only when the first owner had it in 2003 & is a manual model, that has bumped its power output up to that of the VZ onwards 6 litre V8 Commodores (276 flywheel kilowatts from 235 flywheel kilowatts stock).

I bought it in 2008 as I was planning to drive it about 750 kilometres per week as I wanted a manual car & wasn't too keen on a anything below a VZ with a 6 cylinder engine in it as I needed to replace my VL Commodore as a daily driver, I wasn't very fond of the Ecotec V6 or an auto car for that matter.

My budget was $18, 000 & the VZ SV6 was the only VZ model with a manual transmission in it, they were still going for $25, 000 back then so I couldn't afford it.

I don't know why my employer tried to keep the likes of me (Downers) & the likes of a Hoffman wonders why I bought a bit V8 car & wonders why I never was having the likes of Edward who was driving a Daihatsu Charade.

My thing is I was trying to get out of that company as I didn't like their thing, maybe they couldn't work out why I didn't want to have that thing (i.e. live in a 1 bedroom unit, drive a Barina & only commute to work for 5 minutes on a wage of $24.80 per hour (trains) after coming off a larger scale project near Singleton for another firm).

My point is I never wanted that sort of person who I've been rejecting everywhere, maybe I've been a Holden whose been rejecting Fords?

Well, in 2009, I did work for another company near Singleton, for another Holden (TCI) who didn't want me after a few months.

In 2012, it was WesTrac in the same area who never wanted me after a few months either !!!!

I haven't worked for about 5 1/2 years, so why it that always me being rejected or me rejecting people everywhere?

I have had people spreading rumours about me wanting to change my ride or something by the end of the year, is it that sort of person who thinks I was just going to buy a Toyota eventually?

I've found out they are garbage compared to a Holden as I've been getting a fuel economy result of 11 - 12 L/100 kms whereas I've driven a Hilux which was atrocious at 14 - 15 litres per 100 kms & that's only a 4 litre V6 model.

Hey mate good to see your not posting a hate comment like you see a lot of these days on the internet. Without going into it too much, its widely accepted to be a 'street car' or a 'street body car' as long as it was once a production vehicle (for eg look into the APSA rules). In this instance, however, im sure street car is referring to the fact that its got rego and is driven on the street. However, what you may be referring to is racing in 'street trim', in which case you are definitely right

Cam only but then theres E85, high stall and diff gears

Nice setup mate can't argue with 11s with only the cam, box, diff. Full weight too...

pretty impressive that this car is able to run 11.5 whilst still being relatively stock. You can thank the e85 for that.

For the guy that said are front runners necessary the answer is yes! Clearly you haven't driven a car with slicks and no front runners! Its scary

Because anything less than an et street radial probably wont be hooking up and allowing a 1.56 60' ?

are front runners really necessary here...

They are if you're running on full slicks, its the rules.

All the haters would STFU if they ventured out to the hwy just once lol. Don't know if any of you noticed but those tyres are radials with tread, don't sook because you buy shit tyres and don't get traction. This thing 60 foots 1.5 seconds regularly on 235 radials, I call that a bloody quick street car. But racing is for the track, only slow people argue otherwise.

Thanks, I get what you're saying.

I'll try get a full street trim run next time I head out. But even with street legal tyres and wheels, its still far from being legal.
And its my daily driver, no

I get the dropped exhaust thing but have you ever tried racing on street tyres? Good luck getting traction.
