Based on your demo, it still has the dstinctv b&w sound even though its highs is less forward than the s2. Thanks for the honest review

It seems, recent aquisituon of B&W brought degradation of products and price increase. That's pity, B&W were my favorites all the way, though I live recent years with Castle loudspeakers.

Sound sample sounds hissy and bright, I must have listened to that sample for about a hundred times now, and while great in any other way, it really shows the inferior tuning of the B&W 700, and the B&W 600 series. Thank you for the review, as always.

Honest review, appreciate the perspective and detail! My favorite thing about my 706s2’s is the holographic soundstage. As a B&W fan, I’m disappointed to hear the S3’s saw a drop in articulation in that category. They look beautiful though.

From your experience is there a speaker that does holographic soundstage head and shoulders above others (in a similar price territory)?

Great review! Personally I think the tonality in mid region must be the trade mark Sound Signature of ByW speakers...at least with old models

I just purchased the 706 S3 in white an open box $1500..I'm going to pair it with my Marantz PM 8006 source is the Marantz cd6007, this is my set up for now .. I will eventually get the
Yamaha A S 2200 and Yamaha cs1000 cd player. My cables are Siltech 770L Anniversary.. I still have my Musician Knight ones that I love very much.

Aha!.. Thank you for the review, sir. "A bit more narrow" and "a bit less natural" means a cheaper tweeter almost always (or it could be a capacitor in a crossover, but a difference in technical data of the caps must be drastic). So may be a replacement (from a previous model) makes some sense.

Why you put those big speaker close to B&W, you get boomy sound, extra bass. Sounds very boomy, remove those big speaker during your auditions far away from your test speaker. But anyway great review.

I own the B&W HTM72 S2 Center Channel Speaker. I'm thinking about purchasing the HTM72 S3. Does anyone have thoughts about how these 2 models compare? ...pros3 & cons of each.
