Показать описание
We monitor nitrogen dioxide levels – the main pollutant from vehicles which is linked to respiratory diseases.
Air pollution costs taxpayers millions in health and social care costs.
West Suffolk Council is committed to monitoring and reducing pollution throughout the district for the benefit of residents and their health.
The good news is that nitrogen dioxide levels have been dropping – they are not only below the national threshold but have fallen on last year and are below pre-pandemic levels.
And its thanks to each and every one of you who has made a small step to change.
Whether its walking, cycling, car sharing, using your car less, switching to electric vehicles which don’t produce any exhaust emissions, or simply switching off your engine while parked for any length of time, it’s all helping make for a better environment and helping our health.
