My father and his friend Carl used to play Guitar drunk and sing this song and Carl had a really soulful voice and I loves it. Miss both you guys! See you on the other side.

I used to love this song when they’d play it on the radio and as a little kid I’d giggle every time he said bum😺❤️🇦🇺

I heard this song ONCE at a folk festival about 1978 and I have had it in my head ever since. Never thought to Google it until today.

I've known and loved this song since hearing it on an old 78 that my father had when I was a boy in the 1950s.

Thank you, Dr. Demento for keeping so much music alive. I was a H.S. freshman in 1973; my older brothers and me tuned in faithfully to KMET Sunday nights. We learned of McClintock (Haywire Mac), Rusty Warren (Bounce your Boobies), Nervous Norvus, Spike Jones, and all manner of anarchic thought which dovetailed nicely with our Monty Python addiction on PBS, late, late night.

Haywire Mac McClintock also wrote and performed Ain't We Crazy and The Big Rock Candy Mountain (featured in the movie Oh Brother Where Art Thou).

If you watch some Universal Pictures cartoons (Walter Lantz cartoons), some scenes play the music where they show some bums and tramps.
