You can buy black cocoa powder which is extremely pigmented and allows you to add little food dye to make something black. It has a good chocolatey taste too

It's not too noticeable, but if you look carefully in the inside of the old marshmallow is a very dark purple, void purple to be precise while the new batch is more of a onxy black

The clean cut edge is key to looking super black. Any starch on the outside makes the colors show up.

Try blending the pigment into it with a emulsion blender. Sometimes the base will coat the pigment and not show up properly. The blender will break it apart and let the black show up better. It's a technique more commonly used for cake icings to make the food coloring pop more

there is a baking YouTuber that makes a nearly jet black natural buttercream icing using alkalized cocoa, the emulsification process enhances the black. Try that, most artificial dyes actually run a different color when diluted.

if it anything like baking you can use an emulsion blender to make the color darker. there are some videos on line about how to do it

Looks a bit more black now, I actually can’t tell that the original was purple too! Maybe try a dark chocolate base?
