It's not the first in the DCU. The Blue Beetle character (with probably the same actor from this movie) is the first character in the DCU, which is to say that James Gunn wants this character to be in the DCU but doesn't want this movie to be in the DCU. It's confusing af.. and I wish they just outright said that it's not a part of James Gunn's DCU. This, along with Aquaman 2, are the last two movies in the DCEU. After that, the DCU begins with Creature Commandos followed by DCU's first movie, Superman Legacy.
