Erewhon, dubbed as the “most expensive grocery store in the world” and the “most expensive grocery store in America" has gone viral after a series of celebrities including, Hailey Bieber, Sabrina Carpenter, and Kendall Jenner launched smoothies in collaboration with the supermarket chain. With exorbitantly-priced items like $25 water, $30 ice and $20 smoothies, Erewhon isn’t just selling food, they’re selling you the aesthetics of wealth. In this video I discuss how influencers and celebrities are completely out-of-touch with the realities of most Americans, who are currently in the midst of a housing crisis, staggering inflation and rising gas prices that is making it difficult to afford groceries.

You know the world is fucked when people are flexing normal-ass groceries.

I'll never understand how spending $40 on maple syrup is a flex. Congrats, it's not even the real deal and you could have gotten 3 of them for the same price at another store.

60, 000 homeless people is absolutely insane. These people are out here spending hundreds on 2 bags of groceries when people just down the street are begging for enough to buy a happy meal. It's disgusting. There's more than enough wealth in the world to house these people. Priorities are all messed up, it's awful.

1000$ for a sundae that looks like someone vomited it out inside a bowl and served it to you???

The Rosanna pansino video genuinely bummed me out. I’ve been watching her videos for over ten years and she always seemed so sweet and humble, so seeing her gush over the most expensive cake she could ever make was a bit of a wake-up call

tbh at this point I'm just genuinely impressed by erewhom because their whole thing is simply "influencers and rich people are stupid enough to waste money on something they could get for 1/10 of our price but we make them feel special so they fall for it" and it works perfectly 😂

I went to an Erewhon, walked around and walked out laughing while not spending a dime. A fool and their money are soon parted.

Not only are these influencers out of touch, they're being scammed. No matter how healthy or organically grown the food is at Erewhon, the margin of nutritional value between it and what you can get at a normal grocery store probably isn't that wide. Those people aren't paying exorbitant amounts of money just for the food, they're also paying for the presentation.

6:57 that EXACT brand and size of syrup is like $14 at my local cheapo grocery store. Even at the more expensive grocery store in town it’s like $18. They’re literally tripling the price just because they can, it’s insane.

Rich people shop At WALMART, SAMS CLUB, COSTCO… etc. They do not buy $300 ice cream. They buy YACHTS & WINE/EXPENSIVE LIQUOR

I'll never understand flexing the price of something. I'm the type of person to get excited when I get something super cheap and I'll tell EVERYONE about how lucky I was to find it.

She impulsively bought a 42$ water bottle. How tf do these people survive more than a year financially.

what’s even worse is that the workers don’t even get a living wage. they are paid like 18/hr, less the cost of smoothie. they also don’t even get a free shift meal smhhh

1:31 23.99 for a box of organic strawberries. Absolutely insane. I made unhappy noises.

It is so disgusting to think about how with all of the various financial crises going on that people could seriously take pride and going to a grocery store solely because it is expensive and it makes them feel “fancy”. Truly dystopian times.

What happened to praising places for being cheap? How are people buying MORE things from a place just because it’s MORE expensive?

How are we in an era that simultaneously praises TEMU for being super duper cheap while also hyping up Erewhon for the EXACT opposite?!?!
