Great to see you offering this. Shortly before Covid, I checked unclaimed property and found that I had over $500.00 resting in three different states. Everything from strange hidden university fees that were refunded, to "last checks, " I didn't know I had...to retirement fund refunds. Also, I found out that my grandmother had unclaimed property in another state (she died over 10 years ago) and I got to claim over $2000.00 of that insurance check during Covid, by ordering her death certificate and showing our relationship. JUST TALKED TO EDD AND GOT THE DETAILS ON THE EXTENSION: (I copied this from my comment on your other vlog, but hoping you or people see it so will repost here.) First of all, the method of calling worked on the second try so, God bless you, Ginny. The lovely woman at EDD said the reason people are not seeing any changes is because the update is going in two phases. Step one was to "Extend the end to Sept. 6th, " at least that what the date is on mine. They pretty much got all of that done. But the second part is "To disburse the distribution of the funds." Now, the bad news. "They are doing this part in phases." There is no official target for how long that can take. Some people have already gotten it, as we know. From here on out, it will be the luck of the draw. She could not do it manually for me. Maybe she was too low on the totem pole. But as far as she was concerned, my file is updated. Just waiting on the disbursement of funds which will come when my number comes up. The first time took six weeks because it was a new process. This time should go much quicker. She said, probably by the end of the month.
