To You, We Surrender - Benjamin Akira Tallamy
Показать описание
To You, We Surrender is Ben's 6th studio single.
It is available from all good digital retailers.
LYRICS:
I don’t know what any of you see,
When your weary mind falls upon me,
And you, who I hope must know me,
I pray you will think kindly of me,
And all I wish to do is something beautiful for you,
And all I want to be is someone more beautiful than me,
If I could just lay here, for a thousand years,
I feel I might just realise, I'm not afraid of what we knew was true,
All I am, is a handful of sand, a small brief strand of something ineffable,
And for all our elaborate plans, it is perhaps too grand to say I am even a man,
For all in all, we must be waiting for you,
And all in all, we must be searching for something true,
I never learned to pray,
Never kept my faith in the feeling of a true way,
Never thought we’d stay,
Refined my mind for the trust of this time,
What a thing to say?
Defy the lines and times of this age,
But it holds no sway,
The shame is the claim that we’ve found the true page,
I’m all wrapped up, in ribbons of romance,
Everybody moves to the same strange, slow dance,
I say you’re all crazy,
And so, my love, you’ll always know my hand,
And if you can, just try to understand,
Why I can’t see things this way,
Darling, we are not those people,
Were not the same,
And you, my love, must some day realise this truth,
Or am I just screaming at the moon?
Beyond this blood and the bones that we love,
Is the existential notion of some vast ocean,
Lost in the clutter of the soul’s dull stutter,
We rail, fail and drown in the gutter,
We fall at the first, when the heart’s young thirst is
quenched from the source of the same strange course,
kicked from abstraction, to mere transaction,
lines, shrines, and petty reaction,
The truth really knocks me down,
Somehow, I still get through,
And if you can hear me now,
Please know, I still need you,
All there is this sense of being,
All there is this sense of feeling,
Life, and you, is enough to get me through,
And if you need some eternal answer,
Better lay down with the reeds in river,
for the stars will teach you more than I ever could do
and I don’t know why, any of you might be even remotely interested in me,
and I don’t why any of you might be compelled to even give a damn about me,
And for all our lonely pangs of silence, we know,
That love is not measured by our gestures in this world but by intentions of the soul.
