Why the Internet Went Out...

Back in 2011, Armenia's internet went out across the country for over 12 hours. But, no one could figure out why... until the Telecom company found that a cable had been cut in the neighboring country. This story is wilder than you can even imagine.

Same thing happens in Yellowknife Canada all the time. It’s so far out in the boonies there is only one fibre optic cable going there and it gets cut all the time by wildfires and car accidents, sometimes by an angry drunk guy that just wants to piss off 20, 000 people.

Those cables are supposed to be dug deeper to prevent people accidentally damaging underground cables.

Seeing many comments here making fun of her not knowing internet existed makes me feel how less they know about the world. They expect that a poor old lady, who scavenges metal for her living would be knowing anything about the internet back in 2011. They just don't know how blesed they are being born in this age that they think everyone at every point od history knew what has happened in the world real time.

ONE CABLE!? It sounds like they rigged a cable into Georgia to get free internet 🤣
