I wonder what Gershwin would have thought of this stunning eleven minute journey through and around his original song. The teamwork and skill of these musicians is amazing and together they create pure joy. It is the best modern jazz version of Summertime I have ever heard. Not a musical cliche in sight and the original is still there throughout. What a treat. Thank you so much, gentlemen.

These are definitely some of the best players on the planet, all members are top CATS, and John V. Sr. Is the best Sax player I’ve ever heard in my life! Way better than Coltrane and other “Giants.” He’s got guts, soul, and Mr. Johnny V SR - I never heard of you or your Uncle but am going hunting for your music because as a Sax player, you are seriously inspiring! I loved the original of this track when I was a kid in short trousers but I never imagined it could be made to sound this funky - the total class of this track restores my faith in humanity - we might just make it as a species yet.

Just discovered this video a couple of weeks ago. I must have listened to it at least two dozen times. So far only 274k views in 3.5 years? It deserves 274 million! For a "jam session" recording, it seems so tightly put together, it reminds me in some ways of the late 1950s and early 1960s Horace Silver Quintet in terms of cohesiveness of the band members. Well done there!
