Y’all this video is of a surgery being set up, but the person setting up didn’t know the case was cancelled. The nurse wanted to pull a prank on her so she’s not getting fired

She was touching it because there were no surgeries scheduled for they day, they were canceled. So it was supposed be her day off but she forgot.

Everyone says the surgery cancelled but for those who don't know, equipments were broken out of sealed containers so they are either gonna be thrown away or resterilized anyways.

The slow hand movements paired with the direct eye contact like "what are you gonna do to stop me?" while the surgeon is losing thier sheet is insane 😂

I used to work in Central Sterile at a hospital. Our jobs were to clean and sterilize all surgical instruments and reprocess them for use in future surgeries. We were so under appreciated!

Once all the instrumentation is placed on the sterile field, it can't be reused on another patient. So since the surgery was cancelled, the nurse is pranking the scrub tech, who hasn't yet been told about the cancellation. They will resterilize the instruments before the next case.

Oh lord ! My mom works in this department and the stories she would tell us .. but was nice that we used her kit in my surgery .. it was a good feeling !

No one would do this without it being a prank. The way she looked up, locked eyes. She was clearly expecting a response. People usually don’t know how much fun the medical staff has behind our backs (obviously without affecting the patients)

People are probably asking why they would touch them and not just put them back away.
Once the seal is broken, they can't reuse them. No longer sterile potentially.

As a student, I wheeled in a C-arm X-ray machine after the sterile field had been set up. The only place to set up was on the other side and I didn't know about the field. The tools were up against a wall and the only space to pass was between the tables. The Tech was not happy about it. My mentor pointed out that the field was up before all the equipment was in place.

it actually is fun in a “you’d have to work in the OR to get it” to touch what was sterile but now that the case either canceled or you have the too big of a delay to keep the setup. I always double check that it’s really cancelled because I’ve had that “case is cancelled” notification only to have them call in and say “Oh it’s back on”.

I can LITERALLY feel what she is feeling. The shock when she saw her coworker touching the sterile equipment. Then proceeding to touch her head and REMEMBERING SHE IS STERILE TOO, then wanting to stop her but guess what, SHE CANT😭😭😭. So she waits there while everything is being destroyed lmao
