I remember a story about the statue of liberty island, or where the immigrants were stopping at before processing in the early days, right off the ships or something. The story was people saying they seen people ushered into the building, I guess the fort, and the story was it didn't add up the amount of people going in, and they sort of were vanishing. At the same time there were descriptions of what seemed to be a stench in the air, like something rotting. It was a strange story88...
