Her last statement is something I have come to know well. Absolutely no one in power cares about the taxpayers whom fund their incredible lives, and their A-1 lifetime medical care. Nothing is too despicable, avaricious, or brutal.

What a terrible, horrible shock for Mrs. Khangoshvili. This must be like losing her husband again. Hopefully she can find some amount of solace in knowing that her unwitting sacrifice has saved the lives of some of Putin’s hostages.

And yet people from the US, EU and other Western democracies continue to visit Russia as tourists . . . beyond stupid.

Decisions like this are going to cause heartbreak, no doubt about it, especially when putin is involved.

First, a basketball player exchanged for an arms dealer. Now this... The American government should not pay for the stupidity of citizens who go to Russia despite warnings.

I understand the frustration but 16 people were set free, including 5 Germans. If the guy was a good person, he would understand. If I was unalived & the person could go free to save others lives, I would not hesitate, as long as the person is never allowed to set foot in a Western country, or any country outside Russia again.

"Who cares what we the little people think."
There are those of us that care. We are a worldwide collection of cultures and humanity that know what it is to treat another human with respect and dignity.
Truth and knowledge are a precious gift that can so easily be adulterated or squashed by those who have power and no honour.
I know the truth of what you and your Chechen people have had inflicted upon you by putins Russia, and the relative oblivion by much of our world to this truth, largely by putins lies, misinformation, and world diplomacy.
I have learnt much from some very brave, honest, and honourable people by the names of Stanislav Markelov, Anna Politkovskaya, Natalya Estemirova and Galina Vasil'evna Starovoitova. Sadly, these 4 are assassinated by the same insane mind that directed the killing of your husband. Alive and well I have listened to the words of Muslim Cheberloevsky. His words are plain, direct, and with an honesty that only comes from what he (and you) have been through.
I am so sorry for your loss, and the added insult of a murderer set free. God willing, something beautiful will come to you and your people out of this mess.
My love and respect to you and your people from the little people of Australia.

Its a time of war. Russia is at war. Get out of any country at war or suffer the circumstances as a civilian will. Expecting people to risk their own lives or for your country to negotiate with terrorist on your behalf is absurd. No one convicted of murder and sentenced should be part of any negotiation....this poor woman has been victimized all over again.

Scholz and his government did not even have the decency to inform her, get her feedback, explain their reasoning to her beforehand. I'm beyond disgusted, my last comment was deleted because I swore at the pathetic coward who does imitations of a real chancellor.
I only wish he could've read my last censored comment.

"Who cares what we, the little people, think?" - This is heartbreaking.
Our President didn't care how the families of the victims felt. It's terrible.

Also depends who is on the other side of the bridge. There is this saying... better to have 100 guilty free than one innocent person behind bars.

btw: check out movie The bridge of spies. It's movie about spy/prisoner exchange in a cold war.
